Amazing Marvin Review - AI Summary
Amazing Marvin is lauded as an incredibly customizable and versatile task management tool that caters to diverse productivity needs. Users appreciate its modular "strategies" that can be toggled on or off, allowing tailored setups for methodologies like GTD, Eisenhower Matrix, and Pomodoro. Its unique features, like "Smart Lists," task jars, and roll-over tasks, make it especially effective for managing complex workflows. While the learning curve is steep, users find it worth the effort due to its adaptability and ability to evolve with changing needs. Though collaboration options and mobile app functionality could improve, Marvin excels as an individual productivity tool, particularly for ADHD users, offering a personalized and powerful solution for task management.

Works like I think
I love how I can really customize this app. For years I went back and forth between Todoist and TickTick and they never felt like the right fit for me. Amazing Marvin has a lot of option - it might feel like too many options sometimes, but if you take it slowly and try one thing at a time, you can get it just right and then it's a really peaceful workspace to accomplish tasks each day

My favorite to do app
Before Amazing Marvin, I was stressed out because of my never-ending list of tasks and my poor time management I just had to try it out and I loved it, It was exactly what I needed. If you are someone who has just tried millions of to-do apps and none of them marks the mark, I assure you that if you just give Marvin a try, you will be blown away by its functionality and the amount of features it has. Pros :- Everything is customizable Features can be turned on and off as per the user Great for people with ADHD and with never-ending lists of tasks Con :- It can be overwhelming at first Has no free plan

The best personal productivity app
Amazing Marvin will have you doing things in no time. You can tinker a bit with settings but at the end of the day you are just looking at a master list of all you need to do in different ways. The strategies let you feel like you have a fresh view of your tasks and keep some variety in the mix where there would be drudgery. Collaboration is the weakest point of amazing marvin - it's truly an individual productivity focused app. But it has a great API and integrates with anything and you know that your individual tasks will never end up accidentally in a collaborative project, so it's kind of a pro.

Best productivity tool ever (only one that sticks)
Amazing Marvin is truly amazing! Its greatest strengths are its customizability and the incredible team behind it. There are sooo many ways to customize marvin that you can make it look and behave exactly as you want it to, and whenever your needs change or need new inspiration, you can completely transform it to suit your new needs. So while in the past I'd always be switching tools and checking new apps out, now I know that with Marvin I can do everything I need to, and there are always new features that might help me. The team behind it is small but extremely committed, kind and helpful, and there's also a great community of kind-hearted people who will quickly respond to you whenever you have an issue or need ideas for new setups or needs. I'm really grateful for the team for creating this really super tool!

Amazing Marvin: a solid foundation for my daily living!
Amazing Marvin is that: Amazing! And Marvin himself is pretty cool, too. I've been a "Marvinaut" for four years and love its flexibility and many features. Amazing Marvin easily allows you to build your version of Marvin that works the way you work. I signed up for Marvin during a rough time, and Marvin easily kept me on track when I didn't have the energy to do so myself. Amazing Marvin can have a significant learning curve, but it is worth the effort. Equally amazing is the team that built Amazing Marvin!

Best in class, period.
I have late-diagnosed ADHD, so for the past 30 years I have been trying to find the "perfect" action-management tool (aka "to do list"). I finally succeeded when I found Amazing Marvin. I've been using Amazing Marvin for 8 months, and I am STILL just as happy about everything it can do as I was on the first day, and that's VERY unusual. It's SO powerful, but at the same time, SO simple, and also SO flexible/customizable and extensible. There is maybe one feature that I have ever found from a competitor product that Amazing Marvin doesn't have, but I'm told that that one feature is on the roadmap (it's a doozy of a feature and it's more of a value-add than a missing feature, so I can wait or even do without). The support for Amazing Marvin is, unsurprisingly, amazing. Bug reports are acted on right away. People who need help get it from either the community or from the customer support people. It's the way all software should be run. I will fight anyone who wants me to use any other product.

Exceptional app to manage your ToDo and Daily Task
I have been using Amazing Marvin for few years and I have yet to find a better application than Marvin. I still keep looking around as I like to explore but I keep coming back to Amazing Marvin. Actually Marvin is my ToDo manager also for exploring other ToDo applications :). It is extremely versatile and I beleive can meet needs of any person, from simple to complex.

Tried many, always stayed with Marvin: the most versatile and customizable task manager for sure!
Over the years I've used all sorts of task/project managers. Sometimes I've tried others since I started with Marvin (maybe because I find new workflows, or I must use them because of collaborating with people who use those others...), but it's isn't long before I come back to Marvin. Examples of tools I've used extensively: Remember the Milk, Todoist, Asana, Zenkit, ClickUp, Notion, Anydo, Akiflow... None of the above have even half of the customization that Marvin offers. I love that you can turn "Strategies" on and off so that you only have the options that you need, and strip out everything else. You need a calendar? You can turn it on. Need due dates, start dates, end dates, planning options? Pick and choose what is better to your workflow. There are DOZENS of these. Non only that, you can even customize everything to the point of obsession. You can make certain tasks change the background color/text color/add icons if they meet a criteria: SUPER USEFUL when you have tons of tasks and want to understand what you're up against at a glance. The tasks organization is amazing: you have categories, projects, tasks, and you can use them in many levels of depth (I've never found a limit to it). The input parsing is something I ALWAYS miss in all other task managers. Todoist comes close, but Marvin just offers much more control and customization. I also love that there is a mode to set up and tests workflows, where you can configure different combinations of options and strategies to see how you can use them to your advantage, and save them if you like them to apply to your workspace. To top it off, support is great: personal and quick. Of course, it's not for everyone: collaboration options are not great, and the mobile app, while it's made lots of improvements, it's not perfect. Other than that, if you have a lot going on, if you like tinkering to get things exactly like you want... give it a serious go, it's Amazing (Marvin) ;P

Best To do list app period
I’ve tried too many productivity apps! But the one I keep coming back to is Amazing Marvin. Marvin’s got a bunch of cool tools that help me keep my tasks in check and actually get stuff done. I mean they even have a procrastination wizard! Which I had never seen before but has actually helped me get started on tasks when I'd rather do ANYTHING else. Fair warning though—it can be a bit much at first. There’s a ton to explore, and it’s easy to feel a bit lost; trust me, I'm speaking from experience. I will say they do make it easy to turn the features off, so best would probably be to start with most things off and then update as you go along. it’s worth sticking out. Once you get the hang of it, it’s pretty awesome. So, if you’re cool with a bit of a learning curve and want to support a small but mighty team, give Marvin a shot. It might just be the productivity boost you’ve been looking for.

An anchor in the turbulent world of productivity tools that keeps me going
Amazing Marvin takes some time to learn it's possibilities but does not force you too do that. It's like an iceberg - most of it is hidden in numerous strategies that can be toggled on and off: Think of them as parts of UI/UX that can be hidden or visible as needed, without actually removing the data that you have accumulated trough their use. What made the difference for me: DO date (named here Schedule date) is different from DUE date - there are lots of todo apps but only a limited number of them is using START dates, which is a feature that works for me (I don't want to see the task before I am actually ready/capable of doing it and I don't like using alternatives and special lists or reminders to manually move the task to today) Smartlists in Marvin are the most advanced execution of such feature (queries, saved searches) I have ever seen in productivity apps, with unprecedented width of available functions. It takes some time to learn the Reversed Polish annotation (with today's GPT possibilities you can circumvent that) but without smartlists, you would only get like a 25% experience. Two way sync for Outlook calendars (events or tasks). It's extremely hard to find a productivity tool that supports importing events, let alone editing them via two-way sync, for Microsoft's version of the calendar - usually it is just Google and nothing else. However, you may consider this: There is still a higher than normal learning curve, so don't expect miracles within first months. There is an extremely helpful and polite support and the same can be said about the community but still... While the mobile app has made great progress recently, Marvin is not a mobile-first experience. It is web/desktop-first app with very good offline capabilities and a companion mobile app. If you are 90 % of your time on the road, I don't believe this is an app for you.

Wondrous: Welcome Home 😊
Amazing Marvin is wonderful, helpful, handy, a boon companion, slick, pretty, strong, and robust. You may have gotten here by trying other software or practices that didn't work: Marvin, for many, works where others can't. It is a kind of software that in the new age of Happy Meal Apps (e.g.: Notion) is now a rarity: beautifully developed by a small team that understands that not all users are the same and not all agency-managers should be the same; they understand the specific challenges and needs of their users; they have made a tool-for-self-management that's soft like silk but still structured to perform well. The only issue is that it is enormously customizable. Start small, develop practices, build. You can make a Marvin that is the digital companion you've sought.

My favorite to do app/program
Amazing Marvin has been my go-to planning/to do list program for almost a year now and I'm very happy with it overall, glad I have the lifetime subscription. The habit tracker is very useful for me, calendar and ability to plan out your day/week. I love how customizable it is and that I can turn on/off features depending on what I need or find useful. I've abandoned planning/to do apps previously due to my needs changing, but Amazing Marvin has been able to adapt with me when my needs change. I find the design and Marvin character cute and makes me happy to open/use the program, makes planning feel more fun and less stressful. And marking tasks done on AM is highly satisfying - there's animations, points, sound effects, etc. depending on what you want visible; I never felt striking items off of a list and then having them disappear very satisfying. I plan to continue using Amazing Marvin for years to come.

The most versatile and flexible task management tool on the market
Having tried (and used) quite a lot of other productivity/task management tools (Zendone, Nirvana, RTM, Todoist, Facile Things, ...) over the years, I discovered Amazin Marvin about two years ago. Its unique strength lies in its modular structure that lets you customize and finetune the app to your own, specific ways of doing things. Just want to use a list and plan day by day, that's possible. Are you a fan of Getting Things Done: there's a really good implementation for that. Pomodoro's? Check! Eisenhower prioritization: yes. And so on. In the past, I used to switch apps every few months/years because of my changing needs and insights. With Amazing Marvin, I can keep tweaking my task management within one app. Admittedly, there's a bit of a learning curve, but that may be true or a lot of apps.

Amazing! Love it
Love this app! So many ways to use it, highly customisable to individual needs and workflow. My favourite feature is task jar, so you can put in a list of tasks and pull out one to work on next, great for when am overwhelmed! Lots of themes for making it look the way you like. Smart lists help filter any way you want.

Home base - I always come back
Among the productivity apps I've used for months or years at a time are Omnifocus, Things, ToDoist, RTM, Toodledo, and others that don't immediately come to mind. But when I found Amazing Marvin a few years ago, that was it. I've since played with Notion and a few other apps, but none has held my attention more than a few days, if that long. What I love about Marvin is also what makes it difficult, initially, for some users to adopt - it has so much flexibility, so many features that are left to the user to explore and use or not use. That's can be daunting, but if you're a serial tester of productivity apps, as I have been, many of the concepts are familiar and their implementation in Marvin, as a user, is quite straightforward. I've realized that I'll never be forever satisfied with one set-up, and that's what I love about Marvin - it lets me play so much with the look and feel and content of the app, and how it works for me. I can keep exploring new ways to be productive, new ways to be inspired by my productivity tool to get things done. No other tool has come close to Marvin in providing this experience to me. I never thought any app could cure my productivity app wanderlust, but Marvin did that for me.

An highly customizable task management tool
The strongest point of this tool, is it's high level of customization. The big number of strategies (which are basically modules, that can be turned on or off according to each one needs), that allows me to create exactly the task management system that fits my reality. And the possibility of creating my own menu, smartlists, integration with Google Calendar, the backburner (a great concept, because we all have some tasks that we plan to do some day, but that we don't need to have in front of our eyes every time), the "rollover scheduled tasks" (this is something not easy to find in other tools and works perfectly), the possibility of having a smartlist always visible on the right panel (I use this like if this were "post-it's", where I keep that "last minute tasks" or small things that I should do/remember and that don't fit anywhere else) and finally my favorite strategy: "Eat That Frog" (this is something very simple but, at the same time, very powerful). I may say that, comparing to other tools, Amazing Marvin has a higher learning curve. But it pays of take the time to learn the software. This is by far the most flexible task management software I've ever found.

Steep learning curve, but worth the effort.
Ive been a paid up subscriber for over a year now. Amazing Marvin is the to do list manager productivity app i always wanted. The biggest strength of Amazing marvin is the hundreds of ways you can customise it and set it up to run and look exactly how you want. Tricky at first, but worth it. It looks kind of basic when you first open it up, but there are loads of ways in which you can customise it. There are heaps of strategies to that you can select. All the menus, and menu buttons are customisable. You can even set Marvin up to mimic other productivity apps. Can take a while to get it running just how you like it, but if youve ever had an app, and thought, i just wish i could make it do this...... then Amazing Marvin could be the app for you.

Finally I found it
Wow Amazing Marvin was exactly what I was looking for most of my life. A completely customisable all-in-one life manager. It works for work. It works for home. It works for ADHD. It works for well-being & habits. Such a powerful tool which explains a lack of integrations outside emailing tasks in. App is functional but not as user-friendly as the web. I’ve found that helps me anyways as I get so distracted on an app. Awesome developer and user community.

A must have tool for neurodivergent brains!
As someone with ADHD, Marvin has become an invaluable tool for me… it helps with so many of my executive functioning struggles. I have never stuck with a task management app before and I’ve stuck with Marvin. It has so many features to explore that if I need to change things up, I can do it within minutes without then having to redo everything. I strongly recommend this to anyone, especially folks who have ADHD or are Autistic, it means so many of the quirky needs we have when it comes to productivity apps/methods.

Absolutely recommended esp for ADHD
Marvin has been a game changer for me after trying every app, system, software, journal, planner, etc. You know how ADHD craves structure but loves novelty? Marvin is the perfect level of customizable vs structured. I can change things to make them work the way I want it to without having to change to a whole new software or add automations or start learning something like it's a brand new hobby. It's intuitive and every time I've been like "I wish I could do ___," I've found a strategy (what they call the customizable options) for it. Cons: very minor and less than similar softwares IMO. Occasional bugs but nothing catastrophic to my system. I really wish it had more of a notes feature/notebook function - the daily note is great but I use it as a journal and find myself wishing there was a scratch pad or something. There's nothing that would stop me from recommending this though - it's honestly "amazing" lol the free trial is 30 days which I found reasonable and gave a good idea of if I'd enjoy using it, since they don't have a free version. It's 100% worth the price though, at no point have I felt like it's not a great value or that I'm not getting what I pay for. So anyway tldr yes, fully recommend using Marvin.

The most complete task management app ou there
The only task management app that has never made me want to look elsewhere. Extremely feature-dense: not only it has the largest number of features and settings I’ve ever seen in a productivity app, they all work together seamlessly. You can mess around, toggle them on and off, and somehow nothing ever breaks 100% costumisable: it adapts to the user, instead of the other way around.

Powerful, all-round todo list manager
I've been using Amazing Marvin for 4.5 years. It's no exaggeration to say that I use it every day. It manages my work tasks, my home tasks and tasks related to other interests I have. It is extremely powerful in its ability to create "Smart Lists", lists that may be defined by even the most convoluted criteria. It is extremely customisable in appearance and by which features are enabled. The support team are very responsive, and new releases come out 2-3 times a year with new features. It's available on the web, and there are Linux, Mac and Windows applications available. There are also Android and IOS apps and, whilst they are good, they are not as powerful as the desktop or web apps. This is a very powerful piece of software. The downside is that it does take some time investment to get the best from it. In my view, that's time very well spend.

Hands down, the best task and project manager I’ve ever used.
For the past two years, Amazing Marvin has been my go-to productivity tool, especially as someone who works independently. It's a comprehensive solution that helps me keep a firm grip on my tasks and projects, preventing them from falling through the cracks. With over a hundred strategies and features available, I can easily plan, schedule, and manage my tasks. I particularly appreciate the pop-up actions that make scheduling, deleting, sharing, pinning, and labeling tasks a breeze. Moreover, the app's ability to manage multiple projects and goals is a game-changer. The customization options are impressive, too, offering methodologies from GTD and Eisenhower Matrix to time blocking, Pomodoro, and 1-3-5 planning. However, what works best for me are the Monthly and Daily planners, smart lists, and Most Important Projects (MIPs) feature—all of which keep my priorities visible and my workflow streamlined.
