Slack is fantastic. Full stop. It's intuitive, simple, and has great features that can be enabled that help teams with project management and communication. The only overwhelming piece that I've seen is that because it's so easy to create channels, some organizations can get "channel happy" and open a ton of channels which then overwhelms users. If you're an "inbox zero" type, like me, it can be overwhelming sometimes to catch up on all the conversations. So it may be best to only "subscribe" or get notifications on the channels that matter. The great thing is, though, that notifications are highly configurable so if you only want to get notified on a specific set of channels and/or only when you're mentioned, then it's easy to set that up. The integrations with slack are a great feature. For our family, we have a paid version of slack and use integrations such as google drive, asana, and a few others. It's well worth the price to keep conversation history as well as some of the enhanced features.
